On Saturday, October 29, Carmel-by-the-Sea turns 100 years old. As with every birthday, a parade will take place along Ocean Avenue, but this year, along with the usual local groups, dog and kids in costume and firetrucks, there will be Rose-Parade-quality floats, the Navy Marching Band and circa 1916 automobiles. None other than former Carmel-by-the-sea Mayor Clint Eastwood will be atop one of the original Wells Fargo stage coaches to lead the parade down Ocean Avenue as Grand Marshall.
A grand celebration luncheon with an enormous birthday cake, silent auction and band will take place following the parade on Carmel’s Cultural Center, Sunset Center’s outdoor area. (the luncheon is sold out at present) Floats will be available for up close viewing and photo opportunities. A street dance is also planned in the evening on Dolores Street with wine tasting, small plates from Little Napoli, Le Bicyclette & Luca restaurants.
Join us for the festivities at our charming Carmel inn – you’ll start your day with a hearty breakfast so you can enjoy the day filled with celebration.
