Check out this press release by the Monterey County Visitors and Convention Bureau regarding Wine Enthusiast Magazine naming Monterey Wine Country top 10 in the world. Don’t forget we have 12 tasting rooms here in Carmel-by-the-Sea, walking distance from our Pet Friendly Bed & Breakfast and the gals even have a “Wine away the Day” package.
MONTEREY COUNTY, CALIF. – The Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to announce Wine Enthusiast has selected the destination as a 2013 Top Ten Wine Travel Destination in the World. Monterey County is the only California wine region to make the 2013 list.
“The wine country in Monterey County is less commercialized and provides a more authentic experience for the devoted wine enthusiast” said Tammy Blount, CEO of the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau, adding “A wine country itinerary in Monterey County is perfectly complemented with our incredible array of intimate dining options, world class shopping and spa experiences, and the most beautiful coastline in the world.”
The designation is the result of Wine Enthusiast editors who trek the globe each year in search of the most exciting places to visit. Decisions are based on overall cultural experience, timeliness, travel infrastructure, and of course wine quality in the region. The entire list is featured in the February 2013 issue of Wine Enthusiast, available on newsstands now.
“Monterey County offers so many unique and top-class experiences in not only wine and food but in everything from outdoor adventures to art to sightseeing. It has an undiscovered, offbeat, creative flair while at the same time offering very elegant experiences. We feel Monterey represents our reader – extremely modern, approachable, sincerely quality driven. Glamour without pretense. Progressive.” said Wine Enthusiast Executive Editor Susan Kostrzewa.
Monterey County has seen a stunning forty percent increase of tasting rooms in the last year and is home to over 40,000 acres of premium vineyards. Wine enthusiasts are able to take public transit to tasting rooms in rustic Carmel Valley which is home to the new East End Wine Row. Shoppers can mix finding their latest treasure with wine tasting in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Fifteen tasting rooms are now located in the walkable one square mile known for unique shops. Vineyard experiences along River Road are also gaining momentum with A-T-V rides through the vines.
“There are amazing things happening in Monterey County, especially in wine. I feel we are finally getting the recognition we deserve.” said Sabrine Rodems, winemaker of Monterey County based Wrath Wines.

It will be his first time in the tournament since 2002. He was here in 2010 for the US Open, but kept to himself. We still have rooms available at our Carmel Bed and Breakfast, and the weather is looking great too. Call the gals today to reserve your room!
No joke folks, this ????4 foot 7 inch boy shark is from Malibu, but seems to be liking the California Central Coast too (well, in a tank at the Aquarium that is). Here at Carmel Country Inn we have a Monterey Bay Aquarium Ticket Package offering tickets to the aquarium for the same price as you would from them, but our tickets are good for 2 consecutive days admission, and you don’t have to stand in line! I’m sure all of you remember when Jack Hanna performed at the Sunset Center during his stay here at our Carmel B&B, and was gracious enough to take some photos with me? Yes, well, the new event calendar has been published and the gals are going to be hosting some of the stars. Not sure which ones yet, but check out the performances and cast! Howie Mandel, Joan Rivers, Shirley MacLaine, and Kevin Bacon – he has a band with his brother!
Go figure – So while Jack Hanna won’t be back this year, it looks like there are plenty of other excuses to come see me, Tescher Cat, at Carmel Country Inn and enjoy a performance at the Sunset Center.

A few weeks ago, Tug, the white dog, and his Daddy came to talk to me and Amy (mostly me) about what everyone who has been here already knows; The Carmel Country Inn is the most pet friendly place on earth!!! OK, I might be exaggerating just a little, but I have been out on the prowl all morning enjoying the intoxicating sea air and I almost forgot to tell all of you about this exciting program. It is focused on me, so I am obviously excited, but it also discusses how my hometown of Carmel-By-the-Sea is a great place to live and travel with your pets.
The story, part of Tom Wilmer’s Audiolog Series, is airing live today April 20th at 4 PM on participating Central Coast NPR Stations. Amy tells me we will be adding the interview to our website soon, but if you get the chance, try to catch it today. Amy is worried it might go to my head, but I think I might be a star in the making…..
