My New Years Resolution, by Tescher Cat

January 14th, 2010 by Innkeeper

Well folks,  its that time again, to make those resolutions, with careful thought, mini goals, and rewards.  This year,  I resolve to get plenty of sleep, napping when and where I wish, no matter the distractions.  My favorite comic character, Mooch of Mutts,  is hibernating over the winter, but I don’t just resolve to nap during the winter,  I resolve to nap the entire year, to get the most of my napping,  high quality napping,  Carmel style - on cozy chairs, cushions purchased for me and stragetically placed in the lobby (so guests can gain access to me) and especially on the laps of my favorite humans.

I hope each of you, my fans, resolve to come visit me at Carmel Country Inn in 2010, just like you’ve done so in past years.  Don’t worry, I’m easy to find,  napping,  if not in the cozy chairs, cushy cushion next to the space heater or on someone’s lap, I’ll be spread out in the dappled afternoon sunshine on the patio!

Meet Angus - not your usual B&B Guest

November 18th, 2009 by Innkeeper

Meet Angus,  no, he’s not some oversized goofball of a dog that does tricks on cue as his name suggests,  he’s a travel gnome.  No,  not the travelocity travel gnome,  a real, personal, ghome that travels all sorts of places with his people.  He’s been to the superbowl,  to a Tom Petty concert and even to golf tournaments.  Well now he can say he’s met me - Internationally known Tescher Cat!  More to follow on Angus,  he’s getting his own blog and we’ll put his link up.

Carmel Art & Film Festival Weekend is here!

October 9th, 2009 by Innkeeper

Hi All,

Many thanks for all the well wishes I received a few weeks ago when I was under the weather with my surgery.  I’m back in full “cat’s meow” mode and so stoked that the 1st Annual Carmel Art & Film Festival has arrived.  It all started last night with a kick off party at the Sunset Center and a concert for VIPs at Pepe’s Wine Bar (I was invited, but gave my tickets to Fly, the neighbor cat whos allowed out after dark)

The Festival looks to be an exciting weekend and are hosting none other than Dave Lefner here at the inn.  Dave is well known on the LA art scene -  he’s been commissioned to create the offical festival print for the festival.  Dude, his stuff is so great, it’s reduction linocut printmaking and he’ll be demonstrating how he does it all at the Carmel Plaza this weekend.  Check out his work at www.davelefner.com

I wonder if Dave could use my likeness for one of his signs?  I have sat for other artists in the past and will be posting the finished works of art in my next message.  Below’s a pic of my and Dave.

Cheers,

TC

Toothless in Carmel

September 10th, 2009 by Innkeeper

Gee Whiz -  and I thought 9 was my lucky number, but seems as though yesterday (9/9/09) was not such a good day.  {Note to self,  never, ever get in the cat carrier under my own power, no matter how comfy it looks}  I got taken to the vet and got my teeth cleaned and one pulled - there was only 2 good things about the entire day - the pain medication - and the fact that I got all the Fancy Feast I could eat afterwards!

Today is a new day and the sun is shining and warming up the patio nicely.  It feels soo good - especially now that I’ve gotten my morning dose of pain meds.  I dreamed the Kitty Tooth Fairy came and gave me a huge Filet Mignon cooked Medium Rare and cut up into tiny bite size pieces…..mmmmm

You can send your well wishes to our facebook page since I can view it on my IPhone from my sunny spot on the patio   http://www.facebook.com/pages/Carmel-CA/Carmel-Country-Inn/81282763865

Dolores is really Max

January 6th, 2009 by Innkeeper

Happy New Year to all -  so sorry I’ve not been in touch over the holidays - I’ve been very busy trying to keep in the good graces of everyone and maintain my #1 status as Inn Cat -  you see,  at the end of October this loud, skinny grey striped cat showed up in the parking lot and of course all the gals fed it and posted lost and found flyers and named her Dolores of  all names - (it’s the street we live on)  at least I’m named after the owner!  Anyway,  to make a long story as short a felinely possible,  (the gals will give you the entire low down when you visit) Dolores turns out to be a boy (I knew all along, but kept quiet) who was a wild kitten in Canada who is now 9 years old and who’s parents sold his territory in Canada this summer and tried to make a Carmel cat out of him - so he escaped in September and came here in October (thus the skinny look) He really had the gals fooled - he was getting full fat food, not my “overweight managment” food, they fixed him a rubbermaid container turned sidways, propped up on a milk crate, with a heating pad (yes, do you believe it,  they actually make outdoor heating pads for those poor unfortunate animals who don’t live indoors) under the eves of the garage behind the ferns.

Thank goodness his real mother found him the week before Christmas and she promptly took him back the 10 blocks south where he lived -  but that did’nt last long,  after his flea bath, visit to the vet and a new collar with a bell on it (hee, hee, hee)  he escaped and made his way back here in 24 hours.

So,  he continues to live in his box by the garage and promises not to interfere with what I’ve got going here -   Afterall,  he’s wild,  and I’m a lover -  I am still #1 Carmel Country Inn cat after all.

I’ve posted a photo of him so beware when you visit,  do not attempt to pick him up - he may rub on your leg but you’ll need to borrow the gal’s lint brush afterwards.  Did I say he is loud??
